Zarda and Royals star Hunter Dozier team up to help feed those in need at Bishop Sullivan Center
Zarda Bar-B-Q and Royals outfielder Hunter Dozier have teamed up to help feed the hungry at Bishop Sullivan Center. Recently Zarda and Dozier joined together to donate over 200 meals to some of KC’s less fortunate citizens. The meals included Zarda Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Zarda’s world-famous Baked Beans and more!
Giving back to the community is very important to Zarda COO Terry Hyer and the entire Zarda family. According to Hyer, “We’ve been extremely fortunate over the years, so when Hunter came to us wanting to lend a hand, we thought that feeding the hungry at Bishop Sullivan Center was a great start. When baseball returns, we hope to do a whole lot more with Hunter to help KC.”
Said Dozier, “It’s not easy in the restaurant business these days, so I couldn’t be prouder of Zarda for agreeing to team up together – especially during a time when there is no such thing as business as usual – and donating their time and their great BBQ to help feed some of the neediest folks in KC. It really means a lot.”
Bishop Sullivan serves both lunch and dinner from their renovated community kitchen, One City Café, at 3936 Troost and welcomes all who are hungry to join them in their spacious dining rooms. Community members who would like to help can donate to the meal program, or make a donation to their supplemental grocery program, provided once a month to over 1200 families, by visiting BishopSullivan.org.
According to Bishop Sullivan Center Director, Tom Turner, “We’re excited to work with Hunter and Zarda Bar-B-Q. We’ve partnered with Zarda and the Royals in the past and it’s really meant a lot to our organization. During this difficult time in Kanas City – and across the world – we’re quite grateful they’ve stepped up to help some people in need.”
