This baseball season Zarda Bar-B-Q has teamed up with KC Royals third baseman Hunter Dozier to create an all-new BBQ sandwich taste sensation – The Big Dozier. Made with Zarda’s Award-Winning Limited Reserve Burnt Ends, juicy pulled pork, melted provolone cheese, topped with crispy onion straws and Hunter’s favorite Zarda Bar-B-Q sauce and served up on a toasted Roma bun, this sandwich is a Big League experience. (And the secret sauce? Truly delicious – who knows, we might even bottle it up one day!)
Then the Zarda gang got to thinking: How great would it be to enjoy The Big Dozier while actually watching Hunter Dozier in action at the ballpark? One thing led to another and the dream became a reality! For one weekend only, Zarda has teamed up with the Royals to offer The Big Dozier at Kauffman stadium!
This Friday, Saturday and Sunday – July 16th, 17th, and 18th during the Royals home-stand with the Orioles – we’ll be serving up The Big Dozier at Rivals Sports Bar located behind right field at Kauffman stadium. We’ll also be serving up Zarda’s Limited Reserve Burnt End Sandwich and Zarda’s tender and tasty Pulled Pork sandwich. The best part? A portion of the proceeds from every sandwich sold will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City through Hunter’s Step up Big program.
Sound good? It gets even better! On Saturday, July 17, the first 15,000 fans at the stadium will receive a Hunter “Bull-Dozier” bobblehead!
On a side note, this isn’t Zarda’s first time this season at Kauffman Stadium. A few weeks ago Zarda had a chance to cater the Royals clubhouse for a postgame meal. 75 players and staff had a chance to try out The Big Dozier and lots of other Zarda fan favorites. The word was the team loved the sandwich! And all of the proceeds from this catered event were also given to Hunter’s Step Up Big campaign.

According to Hunter, “This sandwich is truly awesome! It’s definitely the best sandwich I’ve ever had! And I’m really excited that Zarda jumped in and agreed to do this to help benefit my Step up Big campaign for Big Brothers Big Sisters.”
Zarda Bar-B-Q COO, Terry Hyer echoed Hunter’s enthusiasm, “Hunter did a great job with this – it’s really the first time we’ve tried this combination and it just works. Once you’ve had one, be prepared, it won’t be your last! And the fact that we’re helping out Big Brothers Big Sisters makes it all even better!”
Zarda’s collaboration with Hunter Dozier has definitely been a major league experience, and best of all, the Zarda collaboration with Hunter to create The Big Dozier directly helps those in the Kansas City community who need it most as Zarda is donating a portion of each Big Dozier sale to Hunter’s Step Up Big campaign benefiting Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City.
Since the launch of The Big Dozier in May, thousands have tried this bigger than life sandwich at Zarda’s Lenexa and Blue Springs stores – and now we can’t wait to feed the fans at the K! To date, Big Dozier sales have raised over $10,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters KC – and the season’s far from over! Thanks for your support. KC!
