Zarda was thrilled to feed Kansas City’s hometown champions again this year at training camp and celebrate the tradition’s 35th anniversary!

Feeding the Kansas City Chiefs is no small feat, which is why prep began well before the big day. Zarda’s famous hickory pits were put to full use, smoking hundreds of pounds of award-winning Limited Reserve Burnt Ends, juicy pulled pork, and quartered chickens. As a bonus for the team, and to taste test a new item, Zarda also brought along their new Memphis-style ribs with a raspberry chipotle sauce.

Next, Zarda packed gallons of their mouthwatering classic sides, including Cheesy Potato Bake, Limited Reserve Burnt End Baked Beans, and White Cheddar Mac n’ Cheese. And what’s a barbeque without sauce? Zarda made sure to have plenty of cases of their in-house offerings on hand, such as Zarda Original sauce, Apple Harvest, crowd-favorite Lil’ Ghost, and more.

The Zarda team loaded up the bright red catering vans and headed north to the Chief’s training camp at Missouri State University in St. Joseph, Missouri. There they fed the team, including QB1 Patrick Mahomes and wide receiver Travis Kelce, who recently gave Zarda a shoutout on his podcast, New Heights, saying that Zarda night at training camp is one of the things he looks forward to most each year.

Of course, Zarda’s very own “KC Takeaway” sandwich creator, L’Jarius Sneed, stopped by to chow down. The KC Takeaway, available at both Zarda locations in Blue Springs and Lenexa, as well as 21 Hy-Vee Market Grille and Wahlburgers locations, is a one-of-a-kind taste sensation: Zarda’s award-winning Limited Reserve Burnt Ends, melted Pepper Jack cheese, juicy pulled pork, thin-sliced ham, and Sneed’s favorite Zarda Bar-B-Q sauce (He’s not saying which one. It’s a secret!), all piled high on a toasted Roma bun. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each KC Takeaway is donated to Sneed’s “Turn the Corner” campaign with Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City.

“Eat like a Chief!” this football season and turn every game day into a delicious day to remember with KC’s best bar-b-que – Zarda. Feeding a group? No worries! For parties of 10 to 10,000, when it’s tailgate go-time, Zarda’s ready for show time!
