“We’ve been to a lot of training camps – from William Jewell, to River Falls, to St. Joe – and every year it’s always a thrill,” said Zarda COO, Terry Hyer.
“Our first year was in the late 80’s – Marty was the coach. Bill Maas was around, also Derrick Thomas, Neil Smith, and Dan Saleaumua.” Hyer continues, “They were good eaters, we still see a lot of the former guys regularly at our two stores. It’s a lot of fun – and the guys are always glad to see the Zarda vans pull up.”
Zarda wasn’t scheduled to feed the Chiefs players until dinner, but a few Chiefs players including Travis Kelce, Marcus Peters and Derrick Johnson, couldn’t resist stopping by the smoker earlier for a taste of Zarda’s legendary BBQ – possibly the aroma from our hickory smoked meats did the trick.
Zarda Bar-B- Q is proud of the Chiefs training camp tradition, and this year, the pit-pros rolled out something special for Kansas City’s favorite NFL players – the brand new (not released in stores, yet!) Limited Reserve Burnt End Beans! A a carefully crafted mixture of Zarda’s famous Baked Beans and expertly prepared Ltd. Reserve Burnt Ends.
The Chiefs players loved ‘Em. In fact so much so – Zarda BBQ lovers can expect a sandwich and side special featuring our Ltd. Reserve Burnt End Beans coming around September 1!
Stay tuned!
