Zarda Bar-B-Q and Royals star third baseman Hunter Dozier have teamed up to help feed those in need at the Bishop Sullivan Center.
Zarda Bar-B-Q and Royals outfielder Hunter Dozier have teamed up to help feed the hungry today at Bishop Sullivan Center. Zarda and Dozier have joined together to donate over 200 meals to some of KC’s less fortunate citizens this afternoon. The meals will include Zarda Pulled Pork Sandwiches, their world-famous Baked Beans and more!
Giving back to the community is very important to Zarda COO Terry Hyer and the entire Zarda family. According to Hyer, “We’ve been extremely fortunate over the years, so when Hunter came to us wanting to lend a hand, we thought that feeding the hungry at Bishop Sullivan Center was a great start. When baseball returns, we hope to do a whole lot more with Hunter to help KC together.”
Said Dozier, “It’s not easy in the restaurant business these days, so I couldn’t be prouder of Zarda for agreeing to team up together – especially during a time when there is no such thing as business as usual – and donating their time and their great BBQ to help feed some of the neediest folks in KC. It really means a lot.”
Bishop Sullivan serves both lunch and dinner from their renovated community kitchen, One City Café, at 3936 Troost and welcomes all who are hungry to join them in their spacious dining rooms. Community members who would like to help can make a donation to help with this meal program, or make a donation to their supplemental grocery program, provided once a month to over 1200 families, by visiting BishopSullivan.org.
According to Bishop Sullivan Center Director, Tom Turner, “We’re excited to work with Hunter and Zarda Bar-B-Q on this. We’ve partnered with Zarda Bar-B-Q and the Royals in the past and it’s really meant a lot to our organization. During this difficult time in Kanas City – and across the world – we’re grateful they’ve stepped up to help some people in need by providing a hot and delicious meal.”
